Slumdog Millionaire - Movie Review

Jul 24, 2011
Cool. Brutal. Funny. Entertaining. Addicting. What more can you describe in this Oscar-winning hit, Slumdog Millionaire.
Danny Boyle's award-winning film, Slumdog Millionaire tells the story of Jamal Malik (played by 3 various actors), who grew up in slums, becomes an contestant in an Indian version of "Who Wants To Be A Billionaire?". However, he is arrested under suspicion of cheating, and while being interrogated, events from his life history are shown which explained why he knows the answers.
This film is very atmospheric. This is my favorite Danny Boyle flick second to 127 Hours. I love the feeling and mood of this film and I love how they tend to transform a favorite book of mine to a Boyle flick. I love to see how Jamal transforms through the years and also I loved how much sacrifice he did in order to survive. The film is not that predictable and if you haven't seen this film.  What? Where were you in 2009?

Dev Patel did an amaing job here and sad to say he doesn't act in films like these now. He's in M. Night Shaymalan's The Last Airbender which turns him an underrated actor. I would love to see him in another Boyle flick and i'm looking forward to it now. Frieda Pinto also did the same. I hope her character was more focus so i can look closely in her acting. By the way, her acting is good. The rest of the Indian actors did an outstanding performance here. They did what the book says. They did what I think and they did what Danny Boyle suggests.
I love the feeling of this film. You can almost had the Bollywood feeling that surprnises me much. I didn't see this as an particular Boyle flick but a Bollywood movie so thanks Danny. Also with matching music from AR Rahman, this turns out to be outstanding. Cinematography is also brilliant in this film.

This was my choice bet for Best Picture from the 81st Academy Awards. They deserved the award and I hope Boyle will continue making films like this.

The geek gave it 8.1/10. Love this film. Will watch this later on Blu-Ray and i'll see you next time!
