That red hooded figure named Snow White once again appear in the big screen for the second time this year—but with a twist in 'Snow White and the Huntsman'. In this grim spin on the beloved children's book, Snow White (Kristen Stewart) is the only person whose fairer than Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron). Unable to allow the insult to her affectation, the evil queen sends a drunkard huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) to kill Snow White. However, the huntsman finds himself not to kill the princess, but instead ends up training her to become a warrior to threaten the queen's reign.

Growing up with those cheesy tales of Snow White and her seven dwarfs, seeing a lot of versions of the classic story onscreen, the dark approach on this character intrigued me. At first, I was really worried about the film and the story itself after watching the so-so 'Mirror, Mirror'. I wasn't excited to watch this adaptation. So I go in very skeptical.
snow white and the huntsman still'Snow White and the Huntsman' is a good film actually. I like the fact that they take the story very seriously. No laughs just action, and a lot of thrills and action. The performances are really great especially for Charlize Theron, which wows me.

Charlize Theron is the perfect actress to play that queen. She's cunning and seductive; very menacing and I guess she steals the show for this one. Chris Hemsworth is really good also, he made his character very distant from 'Thor' which I guess had some quite similarities. He made that character unique and there's no scene from him that wows me.  So, how about Kristen Stewart? Kristen Stewart has done several films and all doing the same blank-faced performance. But I liked here, a lot will disagree on me for this... oh well...
And i'm sure i'll never forget the dwarfs. The seven dwarfs are very well made for this movie. I like how they made the seven dwarfs very realistic and not funny and bubbly. But still, they're fun to watch. The visuals are great especially for the scenery of the dwarf's hideout, so beautiful. Very well-crafted  and well-made.

But I have been disappointed quite a bit for this one. First emotions of some actors (Except Charlize Theron) were just flat. And some, come out of nowwhere without explanations. Especially for the part where Snow White eats an apple. Some, the connection between Stewart and Hemsworth's character was boring and you didn't even care. And the character of William (Sam Claflin) was annoying a bit for me.

The action scenes are well choreographed, although there wasn't enough thrill in there. The score is well-composed. Performances are great. Visuals are good.

The geek rates it 6/10!
