The Three Stooges (Film Review)

Oct 28, 2012
Whoo. Let's see what I'm about to say about this one.
Being left on the orphanage's doorstep, Larry, Curly and Moe grew up  finger-poking and bringing a big problem on the orphanage and the nuns. On their 20s to 30s, the three stooges remained living on the orphanage but what they didn't know is that it is having financial difficulties. The orphanage needs $830, 000 by 30 days or else it is closing down. So, Larry, Moe, and Curly embarked on an adventure to save the orphanage they grew up and loved.

The Three Stooges is directed by the Farrelly brothers and the concept of bringing the trio on the big screen once again has been in stored for a long time. If you don't actually know, they actually wanted Jim Carrey, Benicio Del Toro and Sean Penn to play the leads but turned it down. They did the right thing because they weren't even fit for the roles of Moe, Larry and Curly. I was looking forward to see the movie with no expectations on where will this go. Did I liked this movie, well i'm not actually sure about it.

The Three Stooges is a fun but terrible movie. I don't know if I liked or hated this movie because I had a few chuckles watching it and I think the plot is bad. It is one of those guilty pleasure movie where everyone hated it but you enjoyed it. The fans of the original serials will be enjoying this movie because it stays true to the source material (well, not exactly) and the actors are one good Three Stooges impersonators.

These three guys did a really great Three Stooges impressions and they actually looked like the original actors. Jane Lynch was here and the chance to make her funny here was wasted. There was no scene here where she cracked a joke or made me laugh. Larry David as a nun. What the f**k, who the hell casts this comedic genius as a nun. He was annoying as hell and wasn't necessary. This movie wasn't necessary either for God's sake.

Like what I said earlier, this movie had a few laughs. I don't know if I was the only one or I had no sense of humor. The jokes looked like the ones in the classic Three Stooges shorts, but if you looked closely, it was dumb as hell. They took direction to Jersey Shore so that it will fit for the modern audiences was annoying. Annoying, literally.

'The Three Stooges' is a terrible movie but a fun one. Not actually a great tribute from the original but the three leads played themselves as the original stooges actually did.

The geek rates it 4.8/10. I will be back for my reviews for Wreck-It Ralph and Skyfall.

The Three Stooges is rated PG-13 and is currently showing in Philippine cinemas nationwide.
