Skyfall (Film Review)

Nov 3, 2012
If you don't exactly know me, well to introduce the name's Escosia. Matthew Escosia.
In Skyfall, Bond investigates on a attack on the MI6, that happened to be a part of the attack at M by his former MI6 operative Raoul Silva. With the help of Eve and Q, 007 must track down and destroy the threat being put on, no matter how personal the cost would be.
Skyfall is the 23rd movie on the Bond franchise and being the third time Daniel Craig playing the lead role. So, I had i'm absurdly excited about this movie and had a lot of great expectations on it. It looks like they're taking the franchise in a different direction and bring back the old Bond formula we all loved. Well, did Skyfall live up to my expectations?

Of course. Skyfall was not just a good Bond movie but the best one in the franchise for sure. People who saw the movie would totally agree to me on this because it gets what the fans needed and that is to bring back Bond on how it should be. The movie itself is intriguing and had the right amounts of action and drama. The performances were great and Daniel Craig once again kicked-ass in this film.

Don't get me wrong. Daniel Craig is the second best actor to play James Bond. He was really fit for the character and made me love him as Bond. Amongst the other actors who portrayed 007, him and Sean Connery define the character on what Ian Fleming intended. Javier Bardem, gotta love him here. He was very menacing and a villain you would love to hate. He actually reminded me of the Joker from The Dark Knight but with no make-up. The hair fix though needs more improvement. Other stars including Ralph Fiennes, Judi Dench, and a very hot Bond girl named Berenice Marlohe also did a really great job on portraying their characters.

The action scenes were really great. From the moment you saw the opening sequence, sure you're in for a one heck of a ride. The grand scale action sequences was mindblowing, especially if you're seeing it in IMAX. IMAX really does enhances the experiences and hey, the film was specially formatted for the IMAX screen. There were a lot of vertigo-inducing scenes which was only a single part on what you're getting here. If you're seeing it this weekend, IMAX is the place for you!

Theme songs for a Bond movie usually is a miss. Especially the one from Quantum of Solace, which is the worst theme song I've ever heard. But big thanks to Adele, her song entitled Skyfall made it to my list as one of the best songs released all year. The song apears to be melancholic and dark, which was very fit for the story.

Great performances. Especially from Bardem. Stunning cinematography. Beautiful soundtrack. And one of the best movie released this year.

'Skyfall' definitely is the best Bond movie ever for sure. It brings back the old, classy Bond formula fans are expecting. With performances by Craig and Bardem, it's no surprise but to say this film is one of the most satisfying movies released all year.

The geek rates it 9/10.

Skyfall is rated PG-13 and was currently showing on Philippine cinemas nationwide.
