Lav Diaz's next film 'Ang Babaeng Humayo' (The Woman Who Left) is set to join the Main Competition category on the 73rd Venice International Film Festival (August 31 to September 10).

The film is the only Asian film to be screened in the said category, and will also mark Charo Santos-Concio's return to dramatic acting.

Santos-Concio said:
Congratulations to direk Lav Diaz for bringing honor and pride to our country once again. I am very proud and humbled to be part of this extraordinary film and excited for our Kapamilyas to watch it

Joining Santos-Concio in the cast are John Lloyd Cruz, Michael De Mesa, Shamaine Centenera-Buencamino, Nonie Buencamino, Marj Lorico, Mayen Estanero, Romelyn Sale, Lao Rodriguez, Jean Judith Javier, Mae Paner, and Kakai Bautista.

The film revolves around Horacia Somorostro (Charo Santos - Concio), a woman whose life has become an imprisonment with all its spins and randomness that made it very difficult, vicious, and inexplicable. Leo Tolstoy's 'God Sees The Truth But Waits' serves as Lav Diaz's inspiration in creating the film.

Unlike Diaz's previous films, 'Ang Babaeng Humayo' will be shorter clocking in at 3 hours, 46 minutes for the international version. The Philippine cut of the movie will run at 2 hours, which will premiere locally as CinemaOne Originals 2016's opening film this November.
