Brillante Mendoza's 'Ma' Rosa' has been chosen as the Philippines' representative for the Oscars' Best Foreign Film category.

The film was picked from a slew of shortlisted Filipino films vying for the spot that includes Lav Diaz's Hele Sa Hiwagang Hapis, Jun Robles Lana's Anino Sa Likod Ng Buwan, Felix Manalo, and the Enrique Gil-starrer Dukot.

It tells the story of Rosa who was caught by the cops for her drug selling stint, and the immoral consequences of this event.

Ma' Rosa stars Jaclyn Jose (who won the Best Actress award at this year's Cannes Film Festival for his performance as Rosa), Andi Eigenmann, Felix Roco, Mark Anthony Fernandez, Mon Confiado, Mercedes Cabral, Maria Isabel Lopez, Baron Geisler, Jomari Angeles, Neil Ryan Sese, and Julio Diaz.
