Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival is opening things up a bit this year with a brand new category called the Panorama Shorts Section. This is the first time the festival has made room for short films that are already done and dusted, rather than projects still waiting on funding.
It's a different track from the festival's usual grant categories, where filmmakers pitch ideas and get production money to bring them to life. This one's for completed work. Ten short films will be selected, all making their Philippine premiere at the 2026 festival, screening at Gateway Cineplex 18 and select Ayala Cinemas from September 23 to October 4.
“The Panorama Shorts Section is yet another way for Puregold CinePanalo to continue expanding opportunities for Filipino filmmakers,” said Ivy Hayagan-Piedad, Senior Marketing Manager of Puregold.
“Every year, we see more deserving stories and more exceptional talent that deserve to be discovered. Through the Panorama Shorts Section, we’re granting another platform where these Filipino voices can reach audiences on the big screen.”
Who can join? Filipino filmmakers 15 and up, whether you're a student, a hobbyist, an indie creator, or already working in the industry. The films themselves need to run 20 minutes or under, have wrapped production sometime between January 1, 2025 and July 30, 2026, and have all music and other materials either original or properly cleared. The one catch is that it has to be a Philippine premiere, though student thesis films only shown on campus still count.
Submissions close August 15, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. via the online form, where you'll need to submit a screener link, a synopsis and logline in Filipino or English, the director's resumé with links to past work, and two recent photos. The final ten get announced August 23.
It's billed as non-competitive, but there's still a prize on the table: one film will walk away with Best Panorama Short Film and a ₱100,000 cash prize at the festival's Awards Night.
