Jerrold Tarog's historical epic, 'Heneral Luna' is picked by film voters as the official entry to the 2016 Oscars - Best Foreign Film category.

The word of mouth really boosts up the popularity of the film, in which moviegoers petition to add more cinemas during its second week run, causing theater companies to allocate some of their cinemas dedicated to the film.
It might also be the financially successful Oscar entry the Philippines had in a long time, because of past picks like Norte, Hangganan ng Kasaysayan and Transit having very limited theater run.
