ocean's trilogy review

The Ocean's is a trilogy directed by Award-winning filmmaker Steven Soderbergh. The three films, Ocean's Eleven, Ocean's Twelve, and the last one, Ocean's Thirteen has been favorited by viewers and critics due to it's sleek and colorful style in a way only Soderberg can do. Well, I prefer to them because, I really enjoyed all three film straight without being bored. The plot of the three films might be predictable but the contrast and whole heist sequences is well made and truly worth the watch.

I was inspired watching the trilogy after watching Contagion, which was Soderbergh's latest. It was really thrilling and pure adrenaline rush to watch so I decided to look for more of Soderbergh's flicks. When I saw the trailer for Ocean's Eleven, I was truly gonna see this film. So watch it, until I knew that there are sequels. There, I enjoyed it until I figured out to review this heist trio.

Ocean's Eleven

George Clooney portrays Danny Ocean, the ringleader and mastermind of this particular group of thieves. In this film, he recruits up the best of the best, the players, pickpockets and hustlers to rob three connected casinos, all owned by Terry Benedict (Andy Garcia). The crew particularly consists of a card sharp (Bernie Mac), a right hand man (Brad Pitt), a con artist (Matt Damon), a Chinese acrobat (Shaobo Qin). Rounded out the all-star gang is Don Cheadle, Carl Reiner, Eddie Jemison, Eliott Gould, Scott Caan, and Casey Affleck. These are the eleven, these are the guys who knows how to get things done in a way neither of you would not expect.

On the other hand, Danny must get back his ex-wife Tess, who is now the girlfriend of Terry Benedict. Will Danny get the trust and love from his wife back? Will the eleven be able to succeed in the heist? How will they accomplish the heist in a period without being caught?

Ocean's Eleven is the one that started it all. It starts all the hype and my favoritism to heist films. The script is brilliantly well-done. The film itself is very funny, that I didn't expect that I will laugh that hard in this film.

The cinematography of the movie is well done and the vivid shot of the fountain scene at the end, very glamorous.

The performances by the all-star cast is very brilliant. George Clooney and Brad Pitt did a great job as Danny Ocean and Rusty Ryan . They were very confident and easy with their roles that I enjoyed. Same to Matt Damon who played Linus Maxwell, which is my favorite character in the film.

The geek rates it 8.7/10.

Ocean's Twelve

They pulled off one of the biggest heists ever and now they have another job to compete. In Ocean's Twelve, Danny Ocean, Rusty Ryan, Linus Caldwell, and other, all thought they would be able to enjoy their money, but someone has other plans. Terry Benedict is still fuming after losing his money and wants it back. The team now have the job of getting all the money they spent back, or risk of being thrown in jail. How are they going to get it all back? By pulling off another amazing plan.

The eleven jet off to Europe until they met Francois Toulour, also known as 'Night Fox', a wealthy businessman who has a mansion on Lake Como. Toulour challenges Danny to steal the Coronation Egg, which Toulour on the other hand also plans to steal. If Danny and his gang wins, Toulour will pay off the debt to Benedict.

Ocean's Twelve is my least favorite from the series. I was expecting a smarter and wittier story for this, but it's not. I agree to the critics that there are several non-sense scenes in this movie that will ask you, 'What the hell just happened?'. Example is Julia Roberts portraying as Julia Roberts in one scene. Plus a cameo from Bruce Willis. That scene made the film worse. It proves to be funny but it's annoying. Bruce Willis is really annoying in this.

Good thing Catherine Zeta-Jones and Vincent Cassel is in this film. They are really good in this film. The other cast did the same level of performance in the performance in the first one. By the way, Vincent Cassel is a good dancer.

The geek rates it 6.7/10.

Ocean's Thirteen

The last time we saw Danny Ocean's crew, they were paying back ruthless casino mogul Terry Benedict after stealing millions from him. However, it's been a while since they've come back together, which is all about to change. When one of their own, Reuben Tishkoff, builds a hotel with another casino owner, Willy Bank, the last thing he ever wanted was to get cut out f the deal personality by the loathsome Bank.

Bank's attitude even goes so far as to finding the amusement in Tishkoff's misfortune when the double crossing lands Reuben in the hospital because of heart attack  However, Danny and his crew won't stand for Bank and what he's done to a friend. Uniting with their old enemy Benedict, who himseld has a vendetta against Bank, the crew is out to pull off a major plan; one that will unfold on the night Bank's newest hot spot opens up. They're not in this for the money, but for revenge.

It all ends here. I guess the conclusion of the trilogy. Ocean's Thirteen makes you forgot the lameness of how  Ocean's Twelve is. It's a great comeback for a beloved trilogy like this. All of you're favorite characters from the previous films return and did their very best.

New characters are one the block like Ellen Barkin and Al Pacino, who is tremendously good in this film. This film is very funny and will catch you're attention from start to finish. The heist setting might be bad, the coolness of the soundtrack of the movie is worth it.

The geek rates it 7.5/10.

The trilogy ends with Thirteen. Director Steven Soderbergh says that there will be no Ocean's Fourteen. Possibly, because Bernie Mac, one of the main protagonist in all three films, died a year after the premiere of the movie.

This trilogy is one of the best trilogies ever made. It is unique and sleek. It has the perfect timing for the jazzy soundtrack and the acting by the all-star cast ensemble, you can only get it here. The Blu-Ray of the whole trilogy has just been released so i'll make sure I get one of those.
