Pulp Fiction (Film Review)

Jul 7, 2012
Quentin Tarantino, Uma Thurman, John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson and Tim Roth all in one movie. I'm in.

Pulp Fiction's story is a little bit complicated so I will have to write the overview of the whole film. Two hitmen, a gangster's wife, a boxer, and a pair of dinner bandits intertwine in a compromising events of humor, violence, and unexpected accident.

Tarantino's classic gangster comedy Pulp Fiction is one of the reasons why his name was all around these days. With his unique approach on the gangster genre, Pulp Fiction is not just one of the best gangster movie ever but one of the greatest film ever made. To be honest, I grew up watching films expect for this movie. Being influenced on his films including Kill Bill, Inglourious Basterds, and Death Proof, this film is one of my favorites of him.

I saw this movie when I was 13 years old, and I considering that I was to young to watch this cult classic, I thought I learned a lot in this movie. Not including the Big Mac trivia, I realized, just by watching this movie all over again, I learned how to understand a film even more. Including the irrelevance of the script and splendid use of soundtrack in a film. Speaking of script, the dialogues used in this movie is just beautiful.

The script is what made me love this film. How the writer made interesting topics or use of Bible verses. The script made a huge significance in this movie. And if Tarantino didn't did well for making the script for this film, Pulp Fiction will just become regular B movie. Also, I fell in love with the verse Samuel L. Jackson says in the film. The way that approach of using verses in the Bible, really gets me.

The performances by all of the cast where portrayed really great. But I thought, Samuel L. Jackson is the scene-stealer in the movie. The way he act and deliver lines, will strike you until the end. John Travolta and Uma Thurman were all great in this film, in short, all of them was fit perfectly in this world.

The soundtrack of the movie is done really well. Quentin Tarantino has the great taste of music when it comes to his films. By the way, the music used in the Django Unchained trailer was awesome. Yeah, the soundtrack in this movie is good.

The performances were great. The soundtrack is well done. And a brilliant script in between.

'Pulp Fiction' is one of the best film ever made. All elements were pitched perfectly in this movie including a brilliant script and solid performances by the entire cast.

The geek rates it 9.2/10. I'll be back for my review of The Dark Knight Rises.

For now, why not listen for a song in the Pulp Fiction soundtrack:
