The Expendables 2 (Film Review)

Aug 20, 2012
The Expendables are reunited when Mr. Church asks them to take on a job. But things go bad when Jean Vilain kills one of the member of their team. As always, the expendables seeks revenge and up against an unexpected threat.
Just like it's predecessor, The Expendables 2 is a throwback to the 80s nostalgia action we all love, Explosions, Stallone, and Big Heavy Guns. But the previous film lacks a lot of what an action fan would get. It turned out terrible, but the action is still good.

The Expendables 2 is a great improvement for a movie that sucks so bad. It adds a few actors that fails to join the previous film. Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme. The action scenes in this movie truly kicks-ass. The first ten minutes of the movie alone made the movie very enjoyable. One thing that bothers me in the action sequences was the CG blood. It looks fake and it needs more improvement.

The actors in the movie was fine, but Arnold Scwarzenegger sucks in doing his one-liners (no offense). Liam Hemsworth. I still have no idea why is he in the movie. He doesn't fit in the ensemble since most of them were 30-60 years old. Jason Statham, still the same thing you get from all of his movie. Stallone, Crews, Couture are fine. But Van Damme and Norris steals the show in this movie. I didn't expect Van Damme to play the villain in this movie, but he's a great improvement comparing to the last villain in 'The Expendables'.

The action scenes were great. The script obviously sucks. The acting, nyaah, it's fine.

'The Expendables 2' is a great improvement for it's terrible predecessor and a great throwback for 80s action flicks. It is an enjoyable experience but it would be more awesome if Clint Eastwood, Liam Neeson and Steven Seagal would join the next film.

The geek rates it 7.1/10. I will be back for my review of Total Recall.
