After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Steve Rogers is still adjusting with the modern world. When an unexpected attack occurred within the group, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn.
When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy-the Winter Soldier.
Now, the thing with this movie is that it is so intense. It knocks you out at the start, and pulls you at with it's action after action scenes until the very end. The Russo brothers, who directed the film, really knows how to film an action movie. And this is, to me honestly, has the best action sequences I have seen in a few years. There's a certain scene in the film that involves Nick Fury in a car, that got me at the edge of my seat.
Performances were a real stand-out. My word, Chris Evans: WOW! This is I guess the film, that made him explore more of the character of Steve Rogers/ Captain America. Scarlett Johansson get a decent screen presence with this film. I'm really glad they used her more for this movie, and not just during action scenes. Robert Redford plays Alexander Pierce in this one, he's really good, just as what you expect from him.
And Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier. It really turn me off since he didn't got enough screentime for the movie. Considering the film is entitled The Winter Soldier, but oh well: he's bad ass! I just can't wait how are they gonna use him in Cap 3 (hmmm..).
Perfect is the fitting word to describe this movie. It's everything what I need for a Superhero movie to be: great characters, well-written dialogue, bad-ass action sequences, and an open-minded ending that lead to something bigger.
And on don't forget to wait until and after the credit crawl for a really nice tease to what Marvel has to offer next.
The geek rates it 10/10.
