TOP 5: Most Anticipated Movies of 2015

Dec 31, 2014
2015 most anticipated

2015 marks as one of the most sequels, prequels, reboots, etc. to come out in a year filled with flashy blockbusters and robots. While I tried to diss the pop-corn actioners and watch more of the small releases, there’s no denying but to be in awe of the amount of potentially (?) great films this year. On this edition of ‘TOP 5’, I tally what for me is my most excited films this 2015.

Honorable Mentions:

Avengers: Age of Ultron

2015 most anticipated

The Avengers’ are returning with new recruits in the form of Kick-Ass and half of the Olsens. ‘Age of Ultron’ looks like a very promising sequel—and based on that creepy trailer, the stakes are higher, and things just went darker, and James Spader’s Ultron looks batsh*t crazy.

The Walk

2015 most anticipated

The extremely talented Joseph Gordon-Levitt dares to do the impossible—to walk through a fine line between the World Trade Centers. Robert Zemeckis directs the movie about the fascinating tale of Philippe Petit, and as someone who adores the 2008 documentary ‘Man on Wire’, this should not be missed.

Inside Out

2015 most anticipated

Pixar is a hit and miss nowadays, and they are going back to their full glory with this movie that could be their best outing yet. You had your original concept about the emotions centering your brain—the trailer got me giggling, so I’m stoked to see this. Like really stoked.

Kingsman: The Secret Service

2015 most anticipated

The more I see something about this movie, the more I get excited with it. ‘Kingsman’ is directed by Matthew Vaughn (‘X-Men: First Class’ and ‘Kick-Ass’), but the presence of a bad-ass Colin Firth is something. This looked like a lot of fun, I’ll be lining up for this on opening day.

Mad Max: Fury Road

2015 most anticipated

Post-apocalyptic world. Tom Hardy. A shaved Charlize Theron. Tons of practical explosions and chases. George Miller. This couldn’t get any better, huh? I’m hearing raves about this movie, and that trailer, was trippy good.

TOP 5:

5. Ant-Man

2015 most anticipated

It’s weird that I’m more excited about shrinking hero than ‘The Avengers’. Well, I have been looking forward to this film for quite a while, even after the Edgar Wright departure drama. ‘Ant-Man’ still got my attention, and what a cast you got here: Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stroll (don’t screw him up, Marvel) and Michael Douglas. Peyton Reed is also an interesting choice, and I’m already having high hopes for this project. Because, “In Marvel We Trust”.

4. Silence

2015 most anticipated

Give me my Martin Scorsese movie anytime of the day. The ‘Goodfellas’ director is taking another left turn, and it is religious (?) drama starring Andrew Garfield and Liam Neeson as Jesuit priests. As a big fan of Scorsese’s works, ‘Silence’ looks like a potential Awards magnet (*In which I hope it does*)

3. The Revenant

2015 most anticipated

I haven’t seen ‘Birdman’ (Damn, why does it have to take it long to come!!!), and just about everyone is RAVING and saying great comments about the film—and one said it’s breathtaking cinema. ‘The Revenant’ is Director Alejandro González Iñárritu’s follow-up to that film, and stars Leonardo DiCaprio getting mauled by a bear during the 1800’s. Could this be the film that’ll get DiCaprio his long-awaited Oscar win? It’s too early to say at this point, but it’s looking like it.

2. Spectre

2015 most anticipated

The 24th entry to the Bond franchise, ‘Spectre’ hopefully delivers the goods ‘Skyfall’ did especially with Sam Mendes returning to helm this follow-up. Also, Christoph Waltz and Dave Bautista has been cast for this movie, and they’re rumored to be as Blofeld and “the henchman” respectively—that alone is worth the price.

1. Star Wars: The Force Awakens

2015 most anticipated

Some of you have been waiting this for about 3 decades now, it is finally coming this December. ‘The Force Awakens’ marks as the return of the original trilogy cast passing the torch to a new set of young actors. You heard that right! Han, Luke, Leia, Chewbacca, Millennium Falcon, just about a lot of familiar faces are indeed returning for another adventure. Little we know about this movie, which is a good thing since some gifts are best unopened ‘til Christmas. Don’t screw this up, J.J. Abrams.

Well, that’s my Top 5 films that I’m most geared up to this 2015. It’s gonna be a great year so have a good one!

Happy 2015 everyone!
