Terminator Genisys - Movie Review

Jul 3, 2015
"You're a relic from a deleted timeline.", Jason Clarke says to Arnold Schwarzenegger's T-800 after the womble-jumble time travelling and paradoxes in 'Terminator Genisys'. It is a sequel, a remake and a reboot all in one, if that confuses you so does the movie will. While I scratch my head trying to piece together the events of how it happens to this and that, i'll try to simplify the movie's plot for you.
Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) was sent back to 1984 again to prevent a terminator from killing leader of the resistance John Connor's mother Sarah (Emilia Clarke). But he failed surprisingly, because a good terminator played by Arnold Schwarzenegger was already sent back to the 70s to train Sarah to become a bad-ass and get rid of the threat that's about to happen to her in the 80s. The timeline's rammed up when blown-out Skynet program was rebranded as "Genisys" (It wasn't spelled wrong), they will blow up the world through nuclear war. So Sarah and Kyle built a time machine themselves, and put them forward to 2017 to prevent the Genisys plan from happening.

To my surprise, it wasn't as bad as I thought it's gonna be. There are good moments in 'Terminator Genisys' but as a whole, it just doesn't work for me. The T-800 Arnold Schwarzenegger scenes were the main highlights of this movie, serving as the humor when everything felt bland. It's really great to see Schwarzenegger saying his iconic catchphrases like "I'll be back" again, but other than him was just horrible.
'Game of Thrones' actress Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor looked as if she tried to be the best Linda Hamilton impersonation she could make. I love the twist they prepared for her character, I guess she was okay in the role. Jai Courtney was stupid. So does Jason Clarke, who appears as a strong character ended up being the silliest in the film. J.K. Simmons ruined the film as well, unfortunately.
As a fan of the first two 'Terminator' films, and even considered 'Terminator 2: Judgement Day' as one of the best action film of all time, 'Genisys' ruined everything the older films set up. It's basically 'X-Men: Days of Future Past's dumb sibling. Not only it erased the events of the first film from the timeline, it tries to make a new tweaks on its own but failed shamelessly. I don't bother reboots but what they wanna set up is just plain bullcrap and cringe-worthy.

There was never a single thing in the movie's action that excites me. Everything that leads up to it doesn't make me care about its lead characters, or the possible dangers about to happen to them. The movie tries to make an emotional attachment with me, when it wasn't even there in the first place.

Overall, although the movie was better than I thought it's gonna be, it's still dog crap. 'Terminator Genisys' confuses me, but i'm not interested make sense out of it because in reality it wasn't.

The geek rates it 5/10!
