It can be difficult to talk about ‘Avengers: Endgame’ without spilling major details, because at the period we are in today, everyone wants to peel these things on their own in their viewing, and not others doing it for them.
Marvel Studios has committed to market this film with a high level of secrecy, going as far as deceiving the consumers of their promotional materials with footages that are altered. If we are defining the word “spoilers” as a media text that generates an emotion of being surprised, then there are tons of it here.
The first 15 minutes of ‘Endgame’ will already shock many of the Marvel franchise patrons, already subverting what a lot are already predicting to follow from its predecessor ‘Infinity War.’ It’s a slow somber start that essentially follows the surviving heroes from the Thanos mishap as they grieve with guilt from their loss.
They are fueled with optimism as well, and if the last film is all about the inescapable failure, ‘Endgame’ ignites the sense of hope for its characters. The film spent a large chunk of its running time developing the relationship of its characters, some of which might be their final appearance here. For 22 movies worth of interconnecting and regrouping narratives, the treatment felt earned.
‘Endgame’ is a culmination of these movies, and it culminates with satisfying send-offs to key characters and excites with promising possibilities that forward the richness of this cinematic universe.
The film concludes on an emotionally-charged pay-off, and if you have been following every Marvel movie leading up to ‘Endgame,’ you will have a bittersweet reward. If not, you’ll still find something fun here.
